Hello to my precious blog readers, today I’m going to share my journey in discovering my passion and love for music.
Growing up, I’ve always been fond of music. At a young age, I already enjoy dancing to pop and hip-hop songs. But occasionally, I like singing some OPM (Original Pinoy Music) songs because most of the people around me usually play and listen to OPM songs.
When I was in Grade 1, I always participate in activities involving dancing and I still remember when we danced to Shakira’s song called “Waka-Waka.” It is the the official song during the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. This song really makes you wanna dance hard because of it’s amazing beat and melody. Not just that I also danced to the song by Maroon 5 entitled “Moves Like Jagger.” Both songs are released in the year 2010.

Ever since then, dancing is my favorite hobby. But when I got older, I started to listen to some famous OPM songs. It started when I got to Grade 4 until Grade 5. Some Filipino artists that I listened to include, Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Donnalyn Bartolome, Shehyee, Abra, Yumi, Chicsers and many more. My favorite song that time is Gayuma by Abra.

During my first year in highschool, I got interested to some international pop music and artists like Shawn Mendes, Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran and a lot more. I started to sing English songs and I instantly fell in love. This was the time when my classmates discovered my talent in singing. Actually, in my own opinion,I thought I was a bad singer so I just don’t sing that much in front of someone. But when my classmates heard my voice, they told me I have potential so I was surprised and felt inspired at the same time. I rarely get complimented so that was unusual for me. The song that i sang was I Hate You, I Love You by Gnash. They told me that the song really fits my voice. That was when I started my journey in singing officially.
Then I got to Grade 8 and Grade 9, I was challenged to do better in terms of singing. So I practiced everyday hoping to improve my skills and not be afraid to show my talent to everyone. It was hard at first, but eventually I got used to it. I also started to learn beatboxing but only the basics. I also tried rapping and it turned out well. This was the time in which I struggled to find the genre and style of music that would fit me. There’s a lot of experimenting, trial and errors that happened. I auditioned for the acoustic band and I failed. But that didn’t stop me, I pleaded my parents to buy me a guitar. At first, my dad won’t allow me but eventually he did. I’m very thankful because it’s one of my dream to own a guitar.
I continued harnessing my skills and I strived to do better. So, I started singing at karaoke more often, especially when there are celebrations like birthdays. Of course, I still have my fears in regards of singing in front of a crowd. Cracked voices and not singing in tune is common during those days. Yet again, I auditioned for the choir of Salug National High School and I still failed the expectations I have for myself. This is when I began to doubt myself, whether singing was meant for me or should I stop. I practiced less than I was used to and I became more critical on myself and I easily spot some mistakes, so I did some harmful things to myself. Then at the end of March, the pandemic happened.
During the pandemic, I felt so isolated. The worst case scenario happened, and all of us in the family got affected by the Covid-19 virus. It was devastating, the anxiety and fear I have for the health of my family was overwhelming. A lot happened and I almost gave up for good, but I realized that this is not yet the end of my journey. I still have goals that I wanted to reach and fulfill. Finally, I found my passion and drive again. I suddenly felt inspired to sing and make music. That’s when I started to make a youtube channel called Frenzyl Andus, where I upload song covers of my favorite songs and artists. If you guys are interested, here’s the link to my channel : https://youtube.com/channel/UC5nbgmhDSiXg7ANU5J_wASVw You can check out my song covers there and if you like it, don’t hesitate to support me by clicking the like, subscribe button and don’t forget to turn on the notification bell for more updates. Thank you so much guys in advance.
Now that I’m in college, I still listened to music in different genres, but mostly pop and jazz. I continued to sing while playing the guitar but not that often because there’s a lot of tasks and I’m very busy at school. Recently, I actually auditioned for the Music Club of our school at Mindanao State University Main Campus Sindangan Extension (MSU-MCSE) and guess what, I finally succeeded guys. I was very happy and thankful at that time. Before I auditioned, I was very nervous and scared of failing the audition. In fact, I was surprised that my voice didn’t even crack, even though there are lot of people listening. This is such a huge milestone for me and I’ll continue to do much better than before.
I will continue my passion and love for music. Music definitely changed my life but in a good way. It helped me express complicated things like my emotions and feelings. Whenever I sing and listen to music, I really feel at peace with myself and I would like you guys to also feel the same way. I hope that you guys enjoyed our blog for today and stay tuned for more blog posts in the future. Thank you so much my precious blog readers and let me end this blog with the quote:
